The Send Guide for Send Femme* is a comprehensive guide for the wide world of outdoor sports, with a female focus.

The design brief included a font package and a mood board that took inspiration from retro and bohemian art, classic outdoor and adventure aesthetics/branding, and Asja Boros art.

I approached it as a celebration of the outdoors and the feminine. I created a series of illustrations mimicking the visual styles they wanted for each of the 7 parts of the work and for the quotes they wanted highlighted and emphasized. I wanted full page artwork for visual impact and could potentially act as standalone inspirational artwork that could be shared on social media.

Incorporating photographs provided by the authors and supplemented by my own collection of photography, as well as renderings of old expired patents for outdoor gear, The Send Guide balances a hefty amount of information and aesthetic beauty. There were plenty of opportunities to present information in a visually stunning and impactful way.

*Send Femme is an outdoor collective that exists to support women (cis/non-cis) and gender minorities of all levels sending male-dominated outdoor sports such as backpacking, climbing, skiing, snowboarding, backcountry touring, trail running, mountaineering, and mountain biking.

They do this through community empowerment, multiple avenues of education (courses, workshops, and webinars), free in person meetups, and domestic/international small group trips.

Send Femme welcomes women (cis/trans) and gender minorities of all levels, body types, races, ages, ethnicities, sexual orientations, religious beliefs, abilities, and economic statuses. The only people we don't welcome are cis men who identify as he/him (sorry, fellas).
